André Bharti was born in Finland, but grew up in northern Ontario until his family moved to Toronto in 1995. After high school, he majored in drama at Queen’s University before moving to New York City to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
André has performed in several theatre productions including Dracula, Street Scene and Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead amongst others. He has appeared in the movie Autumn as well as the Gemini award winning film Lucky Girl starring Elisha Cuthbert. André’s television credits include Rookie Blue, Underworld Gangs, Cold Blood, and Bad Blood.
More recently, André has ventured behind the lens acting as an executive producer in mediums ranging from short films to documentary and feature films. His short, A Hindu’s Indictment of Heaven was featured at TIFF in 2009 and his feature film, Mean Dreams, starring the late Bill Paxton, premiered at Cannes in 2016.
Most recently, André wrote, executive produced and starred in a romantic comedy entitled My Ex-Ex which played at the Montreal World Film Festival and was picked up by Netflix USA for broadcast in 2017.
With a scholastic background in drama, journalism and copywriting, he is actively writing new screenplays and remains focused on the business of acting, screenwriting and producing. On top of his artistic endeavors, André runs the Bharti Charitable Foundation, focused on saving animals, people and the world.
